About

I'm Caroline Chalton Hellyer, a studio potter based in Lewes, East Sussex.

Having studied metalwork and ceramics at university, before working in metal for a number of years, I was attracted back to clay by its immediacy and exciting versatility. Ceramics provided the opportunity to explore new structures, colours and techniques.

I make hand-thrown ceramics which combine practicality with innovative shapes and tactile, vibrant glazes, drawing inspiration from natural forms and textures.

My designs range from jugs and espresso cups, to vases and bowls. I am always learning and this is reflected in my work. Each new piece marks my evolving understanding of clay. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it!
